Late in February, I am heading off to the Bunya Mountains for a week – our annual trip – with my sister, Janelle, and a group of friends. Each time we go, we try to take a special project to work on.

I am going to make an heirloom baby’s quilt to match our Pride of Erin collection.
I will use some of the shapes, particularly the heart shape, and maybe the medallion shape too and introduce some new ones.

I plan to use dupioni silk, with lace insertion and lace for the lattice.

I will then use an underlay of pale blue or pink behind the lace insertion.

Not sure how to finish it – either a gathered or pleated ruffle edge or maybe  a rouched binding…still in the planning stage.

Of course I needed to know the size of a crib (in Australia, we call it a cot) mattress.  So I googled mattress sizes and this is what I came up with:

• Crib or Cot Mattress: 28″ x 52″
• Twin or Single bed mattress: 39″ x 75″
• Long Twin or King Single bed mattress: 39″ x 80″
• Full or Double bed mattress: 54″ x 75″
• Queen mattress: 60″ x 80″
• King Mattress: 76″ x 80″
• California King Mattress: 72″ x 84″

We still have a few things to do on our new website, but I am very happy with the way it has turned out.
