Working with Silk We discovered this as the best way to handle silk.
- Iron a light weight fusible interfacing to the back of the silk before cutting and embroideryâ€â€Sheerweft Fusible Interfacing, or Vilene 3205 Medium Light Woven Fusible Interfacing.
- Use 1/2†seam allowance.
- Put silk in a plastic bag in the freezer overnight and allow to get cold before embroidering and sewing. This will make the silk handle better.
- Do not steam iron! Dry iron only.
- Hoop 1 layer of Tearaway/Washaway stabilizer.
- Mark the position for the design on your silk and baste in the hoop.
