Playing with Fabric and Color

I have been playing with dyeing, painting, screen printing, stamping, rubbing, stenciling on fabric, then adding embroidery.
I have used Procion MX dyes to dye fabric, then added some screen printed blocks and motifs.

This sample was made using Shiva Artists Paintsticks and rubbing over Cedar Canyon Textiles rubbing plates, using round stencils cut from freezer paper on the Silhouette Cameo machine.
Having far too much fun!

I didn’t know when to stop, so am afraid that it is a touch overdone. Initially it looked far too busy.
So I digitized some circular embroidery designs and stitched them over the outlines of the circles – now it looks a lot better!

Kangaroo Paw

The Kangaroo Paw is an amazing plant, quite prolific in Western Australia. A visit to Kings Park in Perth provides an opportunity to see many of them in flower in an amazing range of colors – from lime green, through yellows, pink, oranges, reds, rust.
